CHICAGO - DePaul golf coach Betty Kaufmann announced today the 2014-15 schedule that opens on Sept. 14 at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate at Illinois State and features the annual John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club on Oct. 4-5.
The Blue Demons open the autumn slate with a pair of Midwestern events. The D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate opens the fall portion of the 2014-15 schedule as DePaul travels to Normal, Ill. for the two-day event from Sept. 14-15. Two weeks later, DePaul travels to the Louisville, Ky. area for the Cardinal Invitational on Sept. 29-30.
The Blue Demons host the annual John Dallio Memorial on Oct. 4-5 with 10 teams joining host DePaul at Ruffled Feathers GC in Lemont, Ill. IUPUI returns to defend its 2013 team title along with Chicago State, Columbia, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, IPFW, Lewis, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Iowa and Western Illinois. The annual event is named after for DePaul golfer John Dallio who lost his courageous battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor on Oct. 6, 2003. A member of the Blue Demons from 1997-2001, Dallio earned a degree from DePaul in Finance and worked in the Blue Demon athletic department for two years.
The fall slate concludes at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 20-21 before the team takes a break until the start of the spring season at the Carlton Oaks Invitational on Feb. 9-10 in Santee, Calif. The Carlton Oaks Invitational opens a busy spring schedule for DePaul that has the Blue Demons in seven events.
DePaul concludes the month of February with the Snowman Getaway from Feb. 22-24 in Goodyear, Ariz., before the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C. from March 9-10. The month of March features two events with the Slomin Autism Championship in Lake Worth, Fla. on March 27-29 following the Colleton River Collegiate.
DePaul tunes up for the BIG EAST Championship with tournaments at Arkansas State and Iowa to open the month of April. The Blue Demons travel to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Red Wolves Intercollegiate on April 4-5 followed by the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational in Iowa City on April 18-19.
The 2015 BIG EAST Championship returns to Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, S.C., from April 26-28. Jonathan Hewett's 10th-place finish led the Blue Demons to a third-place showing in the 2014 conference event. The finish was DePaul's best at the BIG EAST Championship.
