DePaul University Athletics
Interview Policies
All interviews with DePaul University student-athletes, coaches or staff members must be arranged through the Athletics Communications office. Media, including interviews done on an academic basis, should never contact a player or coach directly through email, text message, person or social media. If any party is contacted by a media member, they should immediately contact that Athletics Communications office. Personal contact information for student-athletes and coaches will not be given out.
In general, athlete and staff interviews are conducted prior to or after practices, after contests or by phone. Scheduling will be done around availability in accordance with competition and practice schedules, travel, classes and other required activities. If media is more than 15 minutes late to a scheduled interview, the interview may be canceled.
All pre-contest and telephone interview requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance through the Communications office and will be approved on a case-by-base basis.
Post-event interviews will take place following a 10-20 minute cooling-off period for both teams. Interviews will be conducted either on the playing field or at a press conference, depending on the sport. Contact each sports individual Communications designee for additional information. For media availability with the visiting team/opponent, media shall contact the visiting team staff directly ahead of the contest for proper procedures.
Playing fields, team locker rooms and other team quarters are private team areas. Media members are prohibited from these areas unless accompanied by appropriate University personnel.
The Communications Office will make every effort to accommodate requests, but serves as the final decision on any acceptance or denial of requests.
