Jared Steger joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2017. Steger is a former professional after an impressive collegiate career at Western Illinois.
DePaul posted a pair of top three finishes at the BIG EAST Championship in Steger's two seasons. Only DePaul and Marquette have posted top three finishes in both of the last two conference tournaments.

The 2018-19 team posted the program's best finish at the BIG EAST Championship with a second-place showing at Callawassie Island. Charlie Spencer-White finished in a tie for second while Joe McCarthy was tied for eighth. Spencer-White's finish was the best by a Blue Demon at the conference event while Campbell Wolf also posted a top 20 finish in a tie for 17th place.
In his first season with the program, DePaul finished third at the BIG EAST Championship and placed four players in the top 20. Spencer-White finished in a tie for sixth while McCarthy followed in a group in eighth place. The duo marked the second straight year with two Blue Demons in the top 10 and the third time for DePaul in BIG EAST Championship play.
Steger started his collegiate career at Northern Illinois after leading New Trier High School to an Illinois state title. He finished his college career at Western Illinois where he earned first team All-Summit League honors and qualified for the 2008 NCAA Regionals. Following graduation, he competed for five years as a professional on the Web.com, PGA Tour Canada and PGA Latino America tours.
Prior to joining the DePaul staff, Steger was an assistant coach at New Trier and was lead instructor at the International Junior Golf Academy in Bluffton, S.C., where he helped students from all over the world develop their games.
Steger graduated from Western Illinois in 2009 and was ranked among the nation’s top 50 players in 2008 and won individual medalist honors in two collegiate events.
