Power forward Andre Brown – a born and raised south-side local – began his basketball career at DePaul in 2000. Throughout his four years, Brown scored a total of 1,146 points with 855 rebounds. At the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame, Brown ranked as the 37th-highest all-time scorer and eighth-all-time rebounder in the Blue Demon record book. In addition, he ranked as the 16th all-time in blocked shots (70). Under coach Dave Leitao, Brown helped lead DePaul to the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament.Â
Post graduation, Brown’s professional career lasted 11 years. He was the second overall pick in the 2006 NBA Development League Draft and played the season for the Sioux Falls SkyForce. Brown signed on with teams in the NBA Summer League, such as the Seattle SuperSonics (2007) and Dallas Mavericks (2009). Brown played for teams around the world - from Italy to South Korea to Australia - until his retirement in 2015.Â
