Millar competed for DePaul from 2006-10 where he became a First Team All-American. His four BIG EAST titles remain tied for the second-most in program history, behind Dave Dopek, doing so in two different events. Millar won the outdoor hammer title in 2007, 2008 and 2010 in addition to the indoor weight throw. He capped off his career in 2010 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships where he finished seventh overall. He was also the 2010 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.

Following his DePaul career, Millar represented Canada at U23 2008 NACAC in Toluca, Canada.
