Charles Allen

Charles Allen played for the DePaul men's basketball team from 1945-49 where he was a member of the 1948 team who finished fourth in the NIT. Allen was inducted into DePaul's Hall of Fame in 1985.Â
Allen played 53 games between his junior and senior seasons, where he averaged 7.9 points per game. While in college, Allen began his long standing career in officiating with DePaul freshman basketball games, recreational, industrial and church league games. Following his graduation from DePaul, Allen worked as the head coach for the Blue Demons' freshman program for two seasons.Â
He went on to be inducted into the Basketball Museum of Illinois Hall of Fame following a 30-year officiating career that included him being hired as the youngest official ever by the Big Ten Conference. Allen worked four NCAA Regionals and three NCAA College Division Finals.Â
Allen passed away in October 2010.Â
