Harold (Count) Gaffney is the only All-American football player in Blue Demons history. Gaffney played for DePaul in the early 1920's where he was also named to the All-West and All-Minor College teams as well. A native of Boston, Gaffney played all four seasons for the Blue Demons as a halfback. In 1924, Gaffney captained the DePaul team.Â
Following his college career, Gaffney had a brief stint on the vaudeville circuit before dedicating his lifetime of work to the youth of the Lake View community in Chicago.Â
