Dick Heise

Dick Heise played for DePaul men's basketball from 1953-57 where he served as the Blue Demons captain in 1956-57. Heise averaged 24.3 points per game as a senior in 1956-57, breaking George Mikan's then overall single-season scoring record. The average remains a program record among seniors to this day and second overall. Heise also owns the program record for most free throws made in a season with 218 in 1956-57. For his outstanding season, Heise was named a 1957 Third Team All-American.Â
Heise served as a trustee and vice chairman before being named chairman of the DePaul Board of Trustees in 1991.Â
Heise was inducted into the Basketball Museum of Illinois Hall of Fame in 2022.Â
