Don Amidei

Don Amidei was a revered figured in the world of track and field coaching who's remarkable career spanned across many of Chicago's notable Universities including DePaul, Loyola and Northwestern. Amidei's coaching expertise and mentorship left an enduring impact on countless other athletes throughout the Chicago area. 
Amidei came to DePaul on a basketball scholarship before graduating in 1949. He was later inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 1979 for boxing and track and field. Amidei was the Blue Demons track & field coach from 1962-69 where he coached future DePaul great, Pat Savage who would go on to be the DePaul head cross country coach.Â
After passing in July of 2008, Amidei was posthumously inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 2023.Â
