Diener played for the Blue Demons from 2001-05, where he helped lead the Blue Demons to the 2004 Conference USA Regular-Season Title and the NCAA Tournament. Diener remains DePaul's all-time three-point leader, with 216 made in his career at a 41.1 percent clip. He also holds the program career free-throw percentage record of 87.3 percent. Diener earned 2003 All-Conference USA honors and finished his career with 1,208 all-time career points. Additionally, he was the NACDA 1-AAA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2005 and was a two-time CUSA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Following his collegiate career, Diener played professionally for 12 seasons in Italy and Spain. He currently serves as the head men's basketball coach at Marian University, where he led the Sabres to the 2022 DIII NCAA Tournament.
