Ernie Wish graduated from DePaul University in 1957 and later earned an honorary Doctor of Laws in 1991. For more than 25 years, he served as a DePaul trustee, dedicating his time, leadership, and philanthropy to the university’s mission. Wish played a key role in establishing Ledger & Quill, DePaul’s School of Accountancy alumni organization, and chaired the Cornerstone Capital Campaign, helping secure critical resources for the university. Beyond DePaul, he led major philanthropic efforts in Chicago, including serving as chairman of the United Way / Crusade of Mercy, where he helped raise $90 million annually for social service programs. In recognition of his lifelong service, leadership, and embodiment of Vincentian values, Ernie Wish was inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
