Eugene Lenti served as the Head Coach of Blue Demon Softball (1980-87, 1990-2018) and Assistant Coach of DePaul Women’s Basketball (1987-89). At the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame, Lenti averaged 35 wins per season with 852 wins in softball, overall. Additionally, he coached 19 All-Americans, 17 Academic All-Americans, 89 First Team All-Conference players, 40 Conference All-Tournament players, eight Conference Players of the Year, eight Conference Tournament MVP’s, seven Conference Pitchers of the year, six Conference Rookies of the year and three WCWS All-Tournament selections. Under Lenti’s guidance, the 1999, 2000 and 2005 teams reached the Women’s College World Series.
Lenti was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coach of the Year (1999) and, later, named the Conference USA Women’s Coach of the Decade (2005). He was also a fourth-time Conference Coach of the Year and made 11 NCAA Regional Tournament appearances in the past 12 seasons (1994-2006).
