Gordon Gillespie

Gordon Gillespie played for DePaul men's basketball for two seasons from 1947-49, appearing in 47 games. Following his career at DePaul, Gillespie later toured with the College All-Stars.Â
At age 26, Gillespie began his coaching career at Lewis University where he coached both the basketball and baseball programs for 14 years, before spending another 23 seasons leading the team on the Diamond. Gillespie began coaching at St. Francis in 1977, a position he would hold for 18 years before becoming the head coach at Ripon. After nine seasons at Ripon, Gillespie returned to St. Francis until retiring in 2011. Gillespie amassed 1,893 career victories as a baseball coach, making him the winningest coach in college baseball until being passed in 2014.Â
Gillespie led his programs to four NAIA World Series and was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.Â
