Henry Radcliffe

Throughout the three seasons of DePaul University’s boxing program, Henry Radcliffe Jr. competed for two. Leading into the 1949 NCAA Championship semifinals, Radcliffe won six consecutive matches and was later named All-American for his deep advancement in the tournament. Radcliffe continued to the final four of his weight class (135-pound division), but lost in a close decision to a boxer from Michigan State.Â
Post-graduation Radcliffe joined the United States Army, serving for 26 years. He completed two tours in Germany and one in Brazil. Additionally, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant E-8 MSgt. before retirement. Radcliffe passed away on Jan. 13, 2016.Â
