James "Jim" Murphy played for DePaul from 1964-65 where he appeared in 75 career games with 1,121 career points. He averaged 17.6 points per game as a senior in 1964-65, helping DePaul to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Murphy was drafted in the eighth round of the 1965 NBA Draft by the Blatimore Bullets.
