Jim Dzwierzynski was a member of both the Blue Demon Track and Field as well as the Cross Country teams throughout his time at DePaul University (1980-84). Dzwierzynski was a two-time Men’s Honor Award recipient — during the 1982-83 Cross Country season and, the following year, for the 1983-84 Indoor Track and Field season.

At the All-Central Collegiate Conference, Dziwerzynski was a member of the 1984 Outdoor All-Conference Team. He placed third with a recorded the time of 3:49.14 for the 1500 meter run. Dziwerzynski held that record for 21 years before it was broken by Gavin Kennedy (3:48.23). Additionally, Dziwerzynski was a recipient of the Rev. John R. Coretelyou, C.M. Award in 1984 for his excellent work both in the classroom and on the playing field.
