Jim Seri

Jim Seri was a beloved men’s tennis coach and faculty member at DePaul University who led the Blue Demon tennis program from 1959 to 1968, guiding the 1967 team to a 22-3 record and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA College Division Championship. In recognition of his impact as a teacher, mentor, and coach who helped shape young athletes on and off the court, he was inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001. A World War II Navy veteran and Professor Emeritus at DePaul, Seri’s legacy includes the Jim Seri Men’s Tennis Scholarship, and he is remembered for his lasting influence on generations of student-athletes; he passed away at age 91 in 2014.
