John McCann

John McCann was a 1948 graduate of DePaul, and became the long-time sports information director throughout the 1950s to the early 1970s. In addition to his work with Athletics, McCann also played an instrumental role in the development of DePaul’s mascot, Billy Blue Demon.
McCann’s family continued to stay connected to the DePaul community. His son, Kevin McCann, served as the clock operator at DePaul basketball games for over 50 years and worked in the College of Education. Many other family members are also DePaul graduates.
