Kelly Kavanaugh Meany

Kelly Kavanaugh Meany, known by her teammates and coaches as “Kella” or “Special K,” was a member of the Blue Demon Softball team from 1989-92. During her freshman year, Meany scored a team-high 19 doubles, the second-most by any DePaul athlete in a single season. Additionally, she helped the program to its first post-season NIT tournament appearance (1992).Â
Meany was the first student-athlete in program history to be named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Midwest Region team in 1989 and again in 1990. She is also a former record holder in hits, singles, home runs and RBI. Â
