M.C. Thompson played forward for DePaul during the early 1960s (1960–63). Over his three varsity seasons he established himself as one of DePaul’s all-time great rebounders, finishing his career with an average of 13.7 rebounds per game and a total of 972 boards. In his junior season he averaged 16.3 points and 15.4 rebounds, and in his senior year he added 15.6 points and 12.4 rebounds while helping lead the Blue Demons to postseason appearances.
After his collegiate playing career, he was selected in the 10th round of the NBA draft by the Baltimore Bullets. Standing 6'5" and 205 lbs, he is remembered as a prototypical power forward and strong rebounder. Thompson passed away on May 3, 2018, and his legacy continues at DePaul as one of its most lauded athletes.
