Melvin Searles played for the Blue Demons’ Tennis Team from 1966-68. Searles and his teammates of 1967 advanced to the NCAA Tournament after a season of 22-3. They overcame the odds with several upsets, including that of Davis Cup players and world-class competitors. The team finished fifth at the NCAA College Division Championship and was inducted into the Blue Demon Hall of Fame in 2010. Nine years later, Searles was honored again with an individual induction.

Throughout his tennis and post-graduation, professional career Searles has kept hard work and perseverance as the cornerstone of his approach to success.
