At the 2008 Hall of Fame ceremony, William Carsley received the Dr. Robert Hamilton Special Service Award for his dedication to DePaul University. Carsley was an active member of the community for a total of 50 years. From 1958 to 1959, he ran track and field as well as cross country for the Blue Demons. Additionally, he served as the Sports Editor for The DePaulia newspaper and the DePaulian Yearbook.

Carsley earned a Bachelors, Masters and Law degree from DePaul University. He was a member of the Athletics Advisory Council, President of the Law School Alumni Board, President of the Alumni Booster Club and served as Chairman of the President’s Club Advisory Council.
