William Shay

William Shay was inducted into the DePaul Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982 for his contributions to the men’s basketball program. While records of his tenure at DePaul are limited, his induction reflects his lasting impact on the Blue Demon community. Shay’s coaching career extended beyond DePaul, where he became celebrated as the winningest basketball coach in Western Pennsylvania history. Over nearly four decades at the Community College of Allegheny County, he developed countless student-athletes and left a legacy of excellence in both basketball performance and mentorship.
