Men's Track 1st At Indoor Opener

Seven first place finishes, the bulk of which came in the weights and relays, bolstered the Blue Demons. Frank Guzman posted the most dominant performance of the meet winning the shot put. His throw of 16.34 meters bettered the next closest throw by nearly three meters. Jarrod Jahnke, who was second to Guzman in the shot, won the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.03m
Adam Crothers won the 200 meters in 22 seconds and 34 hundredths, while Andre McPherson picked up another win for the sprints in the 55m hurdles. He clocked a 7.83 in the event.
The 4x400m relay squad consisting of Salvador Andrade, Siddiqu Muhammed, Aaron Cherrington and Crothers dusted their nearest competitors by four seconds with a time of 3:25.33. The Distance Medley Relay won its race in 10:44.62. The DMR is comprised of Chris Birchall, McPherson, Kai Murray and Luis Samayoa.
Larry Vonckx picked up the other victory for the Blue Demons in the 3,000m. He crossed the line in 8:52.78.
The team's next meet will be this Friday in Milwaukee, Wis. for the UW-Milwaukee Invitational.
