Track and Field Wraps Up Conference USA Championships

TAMPA, Fla. - The DePaul University men's track and field team took a tumble in the team standings on Saturday as they finished the meet in ninth place. The Blue Demons were second after the first two days of competition. On the women's side, the Blue Demons were 10th. Cincinnati won the men's title with a team total of 104 points while the Tulane women won with 145 points.
Men's Championship - DePaul's top finisher in the final day of competition came in the 400-meter dash when Larry Inanga placed fifth with a time of 48.65. Kai Murray followed with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter dash at 1:53.73.
In the discus, Frank Guzman finished in sixth with a throw of 44.88m (147'03") while Carey Ryan placed eighth with a throw of 42.60m (139'09"). Siddiqu Muhammad was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.27. The men's 5,000-meter run saw Chris Birchall register a time of 14:52.01 for seventh place while Matt Plano was 12th at 15:13.14. Luis Samayoa was 10th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:02.40.
Men's Team Standings - 1. Cincinnati, 104 points, 2. Memphis, 103, 3. Houston, 98, 4. Charlotte, 87, 5. Southern Miss, 84, 6. South Florida, 81 and Marquette, 81, 8. Tulane, 75, 9. DePaul, 50, 10. Louisville, 49.
Women's Championship - In the 400-meter dash, Diana Runnels finished in fifth place with a time of 55.57 while Leah Rygh placed seventh in the 800-meter dash at 2:16.71. In the 5,000-meter run, Mary Vonckx was ninth at 17:52.30 and Erin Moffett finished 11th with a time of 17:59.78.
