Cross Country Teams Announce 2004 Schedule

CHICAGO – DePaul men’s and women’s cross country coach Gordon Thomson recently announced the schedule for the 2004 season.  Among the eight meets on the 2004 slate is the Conference USA Championship hosted by DePaul in Palos Hills, Ill.

The season kicks off on Sept. 11 in Terre Haute, Ind., at the Indiana State Invitational.  The meet serves as a preview of the NCAA Championships in November as Indiana State is the host of the national meet.  Following the Indiana State Invite, the Blue Demons take the short trip to South Bend, Ind., for the 25th annual National Catholic Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 17.

October starts with the Sean Earl-Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Beach.  The Blue Demons will run the lakefront of Lake Michigan on Oct. 2.  On Oct. 16, the teams will split for a pair of meets at Penn State and UW-Parkside.  The Penn State National Invitational takes place in University Park, Pa. while the UW-Parkside Invitational is set for Kenosha, Wis.

The 10th annual Conference USA Championship, hosted by DePaul, is Oct. 30 in Palos Hills, Ill.  A challenging course is set for the 14 C-USA institutions to decide the league champions.

Bradley University is the host of the NCAA Midwest Regional.  Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill. is the site of the region meet on Nov. 13 with the top finishers moving on to the NCAA Championships.

The 2004 NCAA Cross Country National Championships are set for Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.  Indiana State serves as the host of the national meet at the Wabash Valley Sports Center.  The NCAA meet will be the 66th annual on the men’s side and the 24th annual for women’s teams.
