Blue Demons Finish Fifth in Season-Opening Meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A pair of top 14 finishes by Leah Rygh and Erin Moffett led the women’s cross country team to a fifth-place team finish on Saturday at the Indiana State Invitational. Rygh took 13th place while Moffett finished just behind her in 14th overall.
Rygh ran the 5k course in 18:28.60 with Moffett clocking a time of 18:29.21. Carrie Moffett and Marlene Key were next two finishers for DePaul. Carrie Moffett was 39th in 19:20.39 followed by Key in 40th at 19:20.71. Emily Prettyman was final finisher in 69th overall at 21:15.01.
Michigan took the team championship with 34 points followed by Arkansas, West Virginia, Purdue and DePaul. The Blue Demons compiled 149 points. West Virginia’s Megan Metcalfe won the individual title in 17:07.34 followed closely by three straight Michigan runners.
