Cross Country Runs at National Catholic Invitational

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams head to the University of Notre Dame to compete in the 25th annual National Catholic Invitational this Friday, September 17. Both groups will take on the Burke Memorial Golf Course route with a women’s 5000-meter race and men’s 8000-meter race. The women’s 34-team field begins at 4:15 p.m., followed by the men’s 32-team field start at 5:00 p.m.
The Blue Demons hope to continue their solid start after both men and women’s teams finished fifth in the season-opening Indiana State Invitational. Donnie Warner clocked in at 26:03.05, a 12th overall finish, to lead DePaul. Warner was followed closely by Anthony Becknek, who finished 14th overall, with a time of 26:05.98. On the women’s side, Leah Rygh and Erin Moffet headed the Blue Demon pack, with Rygh finishing 13th overall and Moffett 14th overall. Rygh ran the course in 18:28.80 and Moffet followed at 18:29.21.
Looking ahead at the season, the next stop for the DePaul cross country teams will be close to home at the Sean Earl-Lakefront Invitational at Montrose Beach. Loyola University hosts this meet which will take place on Saturday, October 2.
