Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Gavin Kennedy and Richard Byrne led the men’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the 25th annual National Catholic Cross Country Invitational on Friday afternoon. Kennedy finished 13th and Byrne was 14th at the meet hosted by Notre Dame.
Kennedy clocked a time of 25:30 on the 8,000-meter course to take 13th while Byrne was just behind at 25:33. Notre Dame took the top three spots led by Tim Moore in a winning time of 24:58.
Donnie Warner was the next finisher for DePaul in 17th overall at 25:46. Anthony Becknek placed 21st in 25:57 and Dan Graca rounded out the scoring for the Blue Demons in 123rd in a time of 28:25. There were 231 total student-athletes competing.
Notre Dame won the team title with 19 points followed by Gonzaga, Xavier, Dayton and DePaul. There were 30 NCAA Division I and II programs competing on Friday.
Up next for the Blue Demons is the Sean Earl–Lakefront Invitational. The annual meet takes place on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Montrose Beach in Chicago.
