Cross Country Finishes Season at NCAA Midwest Regional Championships

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn.- Senior Sean Conroy and freshman Terah Cheatham paced the DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday.  The men’s team finished 18th while the women’s team placed 24th overall at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad Golf Course.

Conroy posted a 10K time of 32:52 to finish 64th among a field of 154 runners while freshman Jakub Kolacz took 79th and crossed the line at 33:13.  Freshman Jeremy Applebaum took the third spot for the Blue Demons and finished 98th with a time of 33:59.  Freshman Luke Rygh followed to finish 108th at 34:16 and freshman Glenn Morris finished 113th with a time of 34:34 to round out DePaul’s top five men.

Cheatham finished the women’s 6K course with a time of 24:16 to finish 129th out of 171 runners and senior Carrie Moffett followed at 24:27 to finish 137th.  Freshman Reda Josifi delivered a personal-best time of 24:45 to take 142nd while freshman Cassey Lynn crossed the line at 25:22 to place 152nd.  Senior Kelly Cunningham closed out the top five women for the Blue Demons and finished 155th with a time of 25:28.

Illinois took the women’s team title with a combined score of 44 while Oklahoma State won their second consecutive men’s crown with a score of 72.  Iowa runners swept the individual titles as the Hawkeyes’ Diana Nukuri won the women’s race with a time of 20:34 and Micah Vandenend posted a time of 30:40 to win the men’s trek.

The DePaul men posted a team score of 462 to finish ahead of Illinois-Chicago, Southeast Missouri and Western Illinois in a field of 21 squads.  The Blue Demon women combined for a  score of 715 in a field of 24 teams.
