Men's Tennis Opens Wilson/ITA Midwest Regionals

CHICAGO The DePaul men’s tennis team enters Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Thursday in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The six-day tournament welcomes the top collegiate talent from the Midwest Region to the Baseline Tennis Center.
The Blue Demons open competition on Thursday as sophomores Vanja Grgec and Alasdair Graetz join freshmen Ben Hartman and Bartosz Jozwiak in the 64-player qualifying singles draw. Jozwiak opens the day at 12 p.m. (CST) with a match against Matt Parks of Michigan. Hartman follows at 2 p.m. and faces Marquette’s Brett Binkley, while Grgec takes on Piabowo Imanuel of Chicago State at 2:30 p.m. Graetz lines up against Alejandro Calligari of Louisville at 3:30 p.m.
Qualifying singles play continues on Friday with the round of 32 and the round of 16. The remaining eight players join the main singles draw where Blue Demon juniors Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada hold automatic bids.
DePaul enters three duos into the 64-team main doubles draw, which begins play on Friday. Moncada teams up with Doerner, Jozwiak and Grgec join together, and freshman Adam Williams forms a tandem with Graetz.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with semifinals and finals of the main singles draw. Singles finalists and doubles champions earn automatic bids to the National ITA Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
