Men's Tennis Wins 10 Singles Matches

KALAMAZOO, Mich. The DePaul men’s tennis team recorded a 10-4 performance in singles action as the Western Michigan Vredevelt Invitational continued on Saturday. Junior Jose Moncada, sophomore Alasdair Graetz and freshman Tim Cadet posted two victories apiece at West Hills Athletic Club.
Moncada opened the day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over WMU’s Kazuya Komada and followed with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Louisville’s Tim Barnoud. Graetz topped Wilder Sampson of Bradley, 6-0, 6-1, in the first round before he knocked off WMU’s Michael Calderone, 7-5, 6-3, in the second round. Cadet fought his way to a pair of three-set victories; defeating Bradley’s Vuk Bolic, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, and WMU’s Brad Noel, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Blue Demons also picked up singles victories from junior Austin Doerner as well as freshmen Ben Hartman, Bartosz Jozwiak and Adam Williams. Doerner posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Michigan State’s John Stratton, while Hartman defeated WMU’s Casey Cullen, 7-6 (3), 6-2. Jozwiak rolled past Bradley’s Michel Macara, 6-1, 6-1, and Williams delievered a 6-0, 6-3 win over Bradley’s Richard Robertson.
The final round of singles play begins on Sunday at 7 a.m. (CST).
