Softball Sweeps Oklahoma, Moves on to Women's College World Series

For the fourth time since 1999, DePaul’s softball team will play in the Women’s College World Series after a 7-2 victory over
The victory sends No. 14 seed DePaul to 46-11 and ends No. 3 seed
DePaul struck first with a run in the opening inning. Second baseman Sandy Vojik led off the game with a triple and scored on a ground out by the next hitter, Amber Patton.
The lead lasted until the third inning when the Blue Demons posted four runs off
After the Sooners’ Samantha Ricketts led off the fourth inning with a single, DePaul pulled starter Becca Heteniak and went to Saturday’s winning pitcher Tracie Adix and she held
Adix was credited with the win and improved to 21-2 on the season. Eckermann was credited with the loss and finishes 37-5. Eckermann allowed five earned runs on six hits over 2.2 innings of work.
DePaul improved to a perfect 4-0 in NCAA Super Regional play since the format was started in 2005. This will also be the Blue Demons’ fourth trip to the Women’s College World Series joining the 1999, 2000 and 2005 DePaul squads.
The World Series will open on Thursday.
