Blue Demon Cross Country Concludes Season

STILLWATER, Okla. The DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded their season at the 2008 Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Oklahoma State. The men placed 15th and the women finished 21st.
Jakub Kolacz was the team’s top finisher for the third consecutive time this season. He finished the 10K race in 32:37.55 to place 56th. Placing 89th and 96th, respectively, Greg Udzielak and Matthew Graham were the Blue Demon’s second and third place finishers. Udzielak recorded a time of 33:23.75, while Graham crossed the line at the 33:34.30 mark.
In the final race of his collegiate career, senior Rob Morgan placed 101st in a time of 33:44.60. Luke Rygh finished just behind his teammate to place 104th in 33:47.45. Brian Begalke concluded his freshman campaign with a 137th place finish in a time of 34:53.10.
Terah Cheatham paced the Blue Demons for the third time this season. The junior finished in 99th place with a 6K time of 23:00.10. Mary Cate Quiett and Stephanie Hughes finished within a second of each other, 23:24.65 and 23:25.75, respectively, to finish 127th and 128th.
Kelly Pickering recorded her fastest 6K of the season, crossing the line at 23:29.10 to place 133rd. Claire O'Brien rounded out the Blue Demon top-five with a 143rd place finish with a time of 23:41.95.
Also running for DePaul, freshmen Erin Lakie and Kelsey Dolan placed 169th and 172nd, respectively. Lakie recorded a 24:29.75, while Dolan registered a 24:38.35.
The men finished 15th as a team with 421 points. No. 2 (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coach's Association) Oklahoma State placed first with 42 points.
With 600 points, the women’s team placed 21st. Minnesota (No. 7, USTFCCCA) finished first with 57 points.
The Midwest Regional Championship concludes the 2008 DePaul Cross Country Season.
