Men's Tennis Shuts Out Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. -Â The DePaul men's tennis team posted a 7-0 shutout against intrastate rival Illinois State on Sunday. The Blue Demons won the doubles point before taking all six singles matches from the Redbirds at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
Juniors Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada posted an 8-5 victory over Luka Marinkovic and Nuno Jacinto in the top doubles match, while sophomores Vanja Grgec and Alasdair Graetz edged Daniel Tobar and Michael Hobson, 8-7, in the No. 2 match.
Moncada raised his No. 1 singles record to 8-1 with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Marinkovic in the top match. Doerner notched a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Jacinto at No. 2 singles, while Grgec defeated Tobar, 7-6, 6-3, in the No. 3 match. Graetz posted his 13th singles win of the spring with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Filip Miljevic at No. 4 and freshman Ben Hartman improved his dual-season singles record to 18-4 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Hobson at No. 5.
DePaul won the No. 3 doubles match and No. 6 singles match by default as Illinois State (9-6) played with a shorthanded squad.
The Blue Demons (13-9, 2-1 BIG EAST) return to action on Wednesday, April 16 when they visit Florida Gulf Coast for a 1 p.m. (CST) dual. The non-conference meeting marks DePaul's last competition before the April 18-20 BIG EAST Championships in Tampa, Florida.
