2008 Cross Country Schedule

CHICAGO DePaul men’s and women’s head cross country coach Pat Savage announced the program’s 2008 schedule today. Both the men’s and women’s squads compete in five regular season meets before the 2008 BIG EAST Championships in November.
DePaul begins the season at home on Aug. 29 hosting the DePaul Cross Country Opener, held at Channel Runne Park in Lincolnwood. The women’s 4K and men’s four mile race begin at 5:30 p.m.
The second week of competition takes DePaul to New York for the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park on Sept. 6. The Blue Demons return to Van Cortlandt Park at the end of the season for the BIG EAST Championships.
The Blue Demons and other Catholic institutions from across the country gather on Sept. 14 at Notre Dame for the 29th National Catholic Championships. On Sept. 27 DePaul returns to action in Chicago at the 36th Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Cross Country Invitational held at Montrose Beach.
The regular season comes to a close on October 17 when the Blue Demons compete at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill.
On Oct. 31 the squads return to Van Cortlandt Park for the BIG EAST Championships hosted by St. John’s. The women’s team faces a 6K course while the men compete in an 8K race.
Following the conference championship, DePaul travels to Stillwater, Okla. for the NCAA Regional Championships on November 15. The Blue Demons are slated to run against the Midwest’s elite on a 6K women’s course and a 10K men’s course. The top two teams from each of the nine NCAA Regional meets earn an automatic berth to the Nov. 19 NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Thirteen additional teams are selected for at-large qualifications.
