2008-09 Men's Tennis Schedule

CHICAGO DePaul men’s tennis coach Matt Brothers announced the schedule for the 2008-09 season today. The Blue Demons play in four fall tournaments before taking on a challenging dual schedule that includes six opponents who ended last year on the FILA/ITA top-75 team rankings.
DePaul opens the fall portion of its schedule at the Wildcat Fall Invitational, Sept. 26-28, in Evanston, Ill. The Blue Demons then head to Kentucky Oct. 10-12 for the Louisville Invitational held at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Following the Midwest Regional Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 16-20, the team wraps up their fall schedule in Kalamazoo, Mich. at the Western Michigan Vredevelt Invitational on Oct. 31st-Nov. 2nd.
After the New Year, DePaul opens its dual season with a pair of home matches against the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois-Chicago on Jan. 10 and 11. The Blue Demons then travel to West Lafayette, Ind. on Jan. 18 to face the Boilermakers of Purdue. A road trip to Texas follows on Jan. 23-25. DePaul will first match up with the University of Texas-Arlington before they face the 2008 No. 43 ranked Southern Methodist University. The month of January closes out against Minnesota on the 31st.
The Blue Demons return home on Feb. 7 for a double-header against Wisconsin-Green Bay and Xavier. After playing on the Bronco courts in the fall, DePaul has home court advantage against Western Michigan on Feb. 20. The team faces off against Illinois State on Feb. 22 before closing out the month on the road against Iowa on Feb. 28th.
DePaul goes up against three teams that were ranked in the 2008 top-75 final team standings during the month of March. First they face Drake, who ended their season ranked No. 49 in the country, on March 1. Next, the Blue Demons travel to Colorado to play the Air Force Academy on March 6. A dual match against No. 45 Denver is slated for the following day.
DePaul returns to Chicago for the last time on March 14 for a pair of matches versus Toledo and Lewis University. The last week of the month takes the Blue Demons to San Antonio, Texas where the team goes up against Southeast Louisiana, No. 75 Texas A&M-Corpus Cristi, University of Texas-San Antonio, and Louisiana Lafayette.
The month of April opens on the road with a dual against the University of Alabama-Birmingham on the 11th, followed by a contest against Georgia State on the 12th. Finally, the Blue Demons will travel to Florida for a final dual against Florida Gulf Coast on the 15th.
The 2009 BIG EAST Conference Championship runs April 16-19 at the USF Varsity Courts in Tampa, Florida. The Blue Demons placed third at the 2008 BIG EAST Championship, edging out the then No. 43 Louisville in the final match. Coach Brothers is returning seven players from last year’s squad, including BIG EAST All-Tournament honorees Jose Moncada and Alasdair Graetz.
