Blue Demons Complete Day One of the Wildcat Fall Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. The DePaul men’s tennis team accumulated eight victories during day one of the Wildcat Fall Invitational. The Blue Demons eliminated competitors from Bradley, Toledo, Minnesota, Iowa State, and Michigan State in the bracket style tournament hosted by Northwestern.
Jose Moncada went undefeated for the day as he won his Flight A singles match against Bradley’s Evgeny Samoylou, 6-0, 6-2. From there, he teamed up with Alasdair Graetz to record doubles match victories against Filip Miljovic and Daniel Tobar of ISU (8-4), and Michigan State’s Tyler Saurerbrey and John Stratton (8-3). Graetz was defeated earlier in singles play by Reinoud Haal of Iowa, 6-3, 7-6 (8).
Also notching a win in the Flight A singles bracket was Austin Doerner. With a score of 2-6, 6-3 (10-0), he knocked of Knot Kiktikumchorn of Todedo. Doerner went 1-1 on the double side when he partnered up with Vanja Grgec. The duo beat Phil Ardnt and Michael Sicora of Minnesota (8-6), after loosing in the first round to Iowa's Kevin Hayward and Brad Noel (7-9).
In Flight B singles, Tim Cadet snatched a victory from Skylar Engel of Toledo, 6-3, 6-0, while Bartosz Jozwiak defeated Bradley’s Michael Macara-chvili 6-3, 6-0. In the first match of his collegiate career, freshman Juan Xavier Munoz posted a score of 7-5, 6-3, to win against Eddie Svenda of Minnesota.
Play resumes on Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m.
