DePaul Dominates the Final Day of Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The DePaul men's tennis team closed out the Wildcat Invitational with an impressive 9-2 record in the final day of action at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. The Blue Demons dominated the courts while the squad collected 23 victories during the three-day tournament.
DePaul recorded seven wins in singles action on Sunday. Ben Hartman started the day with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Drake's Mauricio Ballivian while Bartosz Jozwiak defeated Nutthavit Likitkumchorn from Toledo 7-5, 7-5 to round out play in the A flight.
In the B flight, Alasdair Graetz rallied to take a three-set match from Ball State's Andres Monroy 4-6, 6-2, 11-9. Vanja Grgec dominated Marquette's Jonathan Schwerin with a straight set 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Douglas Perrin and Matija Palinic both recorded straight set wins in the C flight against opponents from the state of Iowa. Perrin took down Sergey Dulin from Drake 6-3, 6-4, while Palinic topped Mitch Beckert from Iowa 6-4, 7-6.
In the D flight, Jon Polanec rounded out the singles play with a hard fought 6-4, 6-7, 10-4 win over Ball State's Jon Wegener.
DePaul continued to roll in doubles play in the B flight. Graetz and Polanec took an 8-3 match from Marquette's Otavio Perim and Drake Kakar. Mathias Hambach and Grgec tallied DePaul's ninth win of the day when they topped Alex Doherty and Austin Sansone from Ball State 8-1.
The Blue Demons break from action until Oct. 15 when the squad travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Midwest Regional.
