Jennifer Thomas Joins Athletics Development Staff

CHICAGO - DePaul University announced today that Jennifer Thomas has joined the athletics department as Assistant Director of Athletics Development. The former women’s basketball student-athlete at North Carolina comes to DePaul after completing a one-year internship with the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA).
At NACWAA, Thomas worked primarily with Membership, Development and Marketing. She handled the recruitment, retention and enrollment of the organization as well as website maintenance, the composition of press releases, and the promotion of NACWAA’s awards and events through various media. Thomas was in charge of organizing and planning the 2009 Women of Experience Brunch, which is held every year in conjunction with the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four.
Prior to arriving at NACWAA, Thomas graduated magna cum laude with a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from North Carolina Central University. While attending NCCU, Thomas worked with the Assistant Athletic Director for Development where she obtained hands-on experience with event planning, donor cultivation/solicitation and working with the annual fund. In addition to the above mentioned responsibilities, Thomas taught Mass Communications at C.E. Jordan High School, and was responsible for designing and implementing the curriculum, composing lesson plans and grading.
From 2004-2005, Thomas interned with Fox Sports Net South. She worked with the show ACC Live and was in charge of editing and logging video, writing for the talent and organizing the different graphics that appeared during the “live” taping.
Thomas graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2004 with a bachelor of arts in Journalism and African & Afro-American History. On the court with the Tar Heels, she was tri-captain her junior and senior year and also earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors. In 2003, she was the recipient of the Robin Roberts/WBCA Sports Communication Scholarship, served as reporter for the “Sylvia Hatchell Show” and received the Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete Award.
