Last season, the men placed third behind the strong performances of Matthew Graham, Luke Rygh, Jakub Kolacz and Greg Udzielak. All placed in the top-30 in a field of competition consisting of 267 runners. Graham was the first Blue Demon to cross the finish line with an 18th place time of 25:50.
Mary Cate Quiett paced the women's team at last season's championship, clocking a 5K time of 18:38 to place 15th. With a 22nd place time of 18:46, Terah Cheatham also was instrumental in lifting the squad to seventh place team finish.
The DePaul squads enter this weekend after both placing second at last weekend's Bradley Open. For the second-straight week, Graham won the race, and lowered his personal-best 8K time to 24:24. Quiett led the women, logging a 5K time of 18:26 to place fourth. Stephanie Hughes, Kolacz, Toni Salvatore and Udzielak all placed in the top-10.
The Blue Demons have become well accustomed to running in South Bend, Ind., having participated in every Catholic Championship dating back to the first men's race in 1980. The women's trek was later adding in 1984. In addition, DePaul returns to the Burke Golf Course on Fri., Oct. 2 for the Notre Dame Invitational.
