MUNCIE, Ind. - The DePaul men's tennis team notched several victories during day one of the 31st annual Ball State Fall Tennis Invitational on Friday. The Invitational is running behind due to rain in the Muncie area and is scheduled to get back on track on Saturday.
Matija Palinic, Douglas Perrin and Vanja Grgec led the way for the Blue Demons in the B Flight. Palinic advanced to the second round after he topped Louis Maselli from IPFW, 6-3, 6-1. Perrin also took his match in two sets as he defeated Chris Klepatz from Cleveland State 6-4, 6-4.
In one of the most exciting matches of the day, Grgec mounted a come-from-behind victory and topped Xavier Irart-Ferrer from Illinois State. Grgec dropped the first set 6-4, but battled back and took the second set 6-3 and the super breaker 10-6.
Action continues on Saturday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center and Lucina Courts, if rain continues to fall in Muncie, the tournament will be moved to the local YMCA.
