Matthew Graham Claims Second BIG EAST Weekly Honor

CHICAGO - Following a decisive first-place finish at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, DePaul's Matthew Graham was named the BIG EAST Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. Graham's second honor this year increases his career total to four Athlete of the Week honors from the BIG EAST.
Graham earns male cross country Athlete of the Week honors after taking first at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 2. Graham won the 8k race in dominant fashion, outpacing his competition by 21 seconds in difficult weather conditions. Graham finished with a time of 24:32 on a cold, windy and rainy day, taking his third first-place finish in four races this season. The Blue Demons finished ninth of 41 teams in the field, with Graham beating out 528 other competitors.
On the women's side, Georgetown's Emily Infeld was named BIG EAST female cross country Athlete of the Week after earning first at the Paul Short Run.
Up next for Graham and the Blue Demons is the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., on Oct. 15.
