The Blue Demons will Compete in the National Catholic Championship

CHICAGO- The DePaul men's and women's cross country team returns to action Friday, Sept. 17th at the National Catholic Championship in Notre Dame, Ind. The men's and women's open races will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT, while the women's 5,000-meter race will commence at 3:15 p.m. CT. and the men's five-mile race will follow at 4 p.m. CT.
This year's National Catholic Championship will feature 37 teams on the men's side and 36 teams on the women's and will be run at the Notre Dame golf course.
A season ago, Mary Cate Quiett led the Blue Demons and came in 15th at the National Catholic Championship; the women's team took third place out of 21 teams. The men's team finished last season's race in fourth place and was paced by Matthew Graham, who finished in first place at the National Catholic Championship a season ago, with a time of 24:54.
The Blue Demons had a successful last weekend. Matthew Graham was named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week, after he won his seven consecutive regular season race and helped the men's team finish in second in the 6k race at the BIG EAST Preview. The women's team finished in fourth and was led by Toni Salvatore who finished in third in the 5K race with a time of 19:11.09.
