DePaul Captains' Council Elects 2010-11 Officers

CHICAGO - The DePaul athletics department announced today that the DePaul Captains' Council has elected its officers for the 2010-11 academic year. The Council is DePaul's representational body for student-athletes.
Sam Quigley, who served as the council's vice president in 2009-10, was elected as the council's president is joined by vice president Luke Rygh from men's cross country and track and field teams; along with women's track student-athlete Lauren Bales as secretary and volleyball's Kate Letcher as the treasurer.
The Captains' Council is a student organization comprised of captains from each of DePaul's 15 intercollegiate athletics programs that works with the athletics department administration on a variety of issues and events. The officers were selected by their peers.
Among the many duties of the Captains' Council, it serves as a formal forum for student-athletes of DePaul University, as a voice for all student-athletes in the athletics department, ensures that all student-athletes remain integrated into the University community, follows and upholds the Vincentian beliefs of DePaul University, and develops service initiatives that represent the values of the University, the athletics department, and the Captains' Council.
