Golf Unveils 2011-12 Schedule

CHICAGO - DePaul men's golf coach Betty Kaufmann announced today the 2011-12 schedule that opens on Sept. 19 at the Adam's Cup of Newport in Rhode Island and features the annual John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club on Oct. 8-9.
The Adam's Cup of Newport opens the Fall portion of the 2011-12 schedule as DePaul travels to Middletown, R.I. for the second time in three seasons. The Blue Demons also started the 2009-10 campaign in Rhode Island by finishing eighth out of 17 teams. The 2011 edition of the Adam's Cup is scheduled for Sept. 19-20 at Newport National GC.
DePaul returns to the Louisville, Ky. area for the second straight season with the Cardinal Collegiate scheduled for Sept. 26-27. Last season Russell Budd finished in a tie for 12th with an even-par score of 216 to lead the Blue Demons.
The Blue Demons hose the annual John Dallio Memorial on Oct. 8-9 with 13 teams joining host DePaul at Ruffled Feathers GC in Lemont, Ill. IUPUI returns to defend its 2010 team title along with Bradley, Chicago State, Detroit, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago, Marquette, Missouri, Northern Iowa, SIU-Edwardsville, Western Illinois and UW-Green Bay. The annual event is named after for DePaul golfer John Dallio who lost his courageous battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor on Oct. 6, 2003. A member of the Blue Demons from 1997-2001, Dallio earned a degree from DePaul in Finance and worked in the Blue Demon athletic department for two years.
The Fall slate concludes at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 17-18 before the team takes a break until the start of the Spring season at The Match Play on Feb. 13-14. The Match Play opens a busy Spring schedule for DePaul that has the Blue Demons in eight events. The Match Play is scheduled to be played at the Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla.
DePaul concludes the month of February with a head-to-head match against Ohio University on Feb. 18 followed by the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. Francis Marion is the host of the Wexford Intercollegiate at Wexford Plantation Golf Course from Feb. 20-21.
The three-day USF Invitational takes place Mar. 4-6 at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla., before DePaul heads to Delray Beach, Fla., for the Spring Break Championship. The three-day tournament at Gleneagles Country Club is hosted by Florida Atlantic, Mar. 23-25.
DePaul tunes up for the BIG EAST Championship with tournaments at Arkansas State and Ball State to open the month of April. The Blue Demons travel to Jonesboro, Ark., for the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate on April 2-3 followed by the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational in Muncie, Ind. on April 21-22. DePaul returns to the Reunion Resort in Orlando on April 29-May 1 for the BIG EAST Championship.
DePaul returns its top three players from last season led by Ben Westley. Westley led the Blue Demons a year ago as a junior with a 74.57 scoring average. He was followed by a pair of freshmen with Moritz Ackerhans posting an average of 76.00 and Maximilian Mayer with a 76.20 average.
