Today In Blue Demon History:
On November 5th 2009, Men's soccer defeated Georgetown after double overtime and penalty kicks in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship. The entire season, and in some cases entire careers, rested on the shoulders of DePaul freshman goalkeeper Joe Ferrari, who saved two of the penalty kicks to send DePaul to the quarterfinals. Sports Report:
Men's Basketball: If this was a sign of things to come, strap it up for a breakneck pace at DePaul this season. In a game full of fast-court presses and fast-break blitzes up and down the court, the Blue Demons streaked past Lewis University 91-74 Saturday night in their preseason opener at McGrath-Phillips Arena.Cleveland Melvin was dominant with 25 points and 11 rebounds, although he made just 3 of 9 from the free-throw line. Women's Basketball: Judging by the final preseason game, No. 25 DePaul is ready to play for real. Tuning up their explosive transition attack, the Blue Demons blew away last season's NCAA Division III national champion Illinois Wesleyan 105-68 Saturday night at McGrath-Phillips Arena. Men's Tennis: The DePaul men's tennis team finished day two of play at the Gopher Invitational on Saturday, getting a win from sophomore Adam Reinhart at Baseline Tennis Center. Click Here for the full story.
Volleyball: The DePaul volleyball team dropped its third straight match in a 3-0 setback at Seton Hall on Sunday in Walsh Gymnasium. Click Here for the full story on yesterday's match. The DePaul volleyball team clawed its way back from a 2-0 match deficit before falling in the deciding fifth frame (25-14, 25-17, 22-25, 21-25, 15-11) on Saturday at College Avenue Gym.
