No. 61 South Alabama Slips Past No. 73 DePaul

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Playing its second ranked opponent of the day, the No. 73 DePaul men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 dual to No. 61 South Alabama on Friday at the HEB Team Tournament at Texas A&M Corpus Christi's HEB Tennis Center. The Blue Demons will play Western Michigan on Saturday for seventh place at 9 a.m.
Playing singles first, the dual played to a three all tie. South Alabama (6-4) raced out to an early 3-0 advantage, but the Blue Demons battled back with three straight wins.
Matija Palinic tallied his second singles win of the day when he topped Blake Gregor 6-3, 6-4 which put the Blue Demons (9-7) out the board. George Chanturia followed with his 6-4, 6-2 victory over Alex Bernard in the No.2 position. Needing to tie the dual to send it to doubles, Filip Dzanko topped Romain Bocaert 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the top singles position.
Even with the Blue Demons controlling the tempo, South Alabama grabbed wins on the first and second doubles courts to seal the win for Jaguars.
The Blue Demons close out the team tournament with dual with Western Michigan on Saturday morning.
