
DePaul Drops Road Match to No. 74 New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Junior Filip Dzanko picked up his first ranked singles win of the season, but DePaul men's tennis fell 5-2 to hosting No. 74 New Mexico in the first of a two-match weekend on Friday at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex.
The Blue Demons (3-10) dropped their sixth consecutive match despite wins on court one and five. The Lobos went to 7-7 overall and 5-1 on their home court with the win.
New Mexico clinched the match with the doubles point and wins at sixth, third and second singles before the Blue Demons got back-to-back victories from Jan-Willem Feilzer and Dzanko.
Feilzer was a winner at the five spot, taking down Mads Hegelund 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-2).
Dzanko then went to 11-10 overall with a straight set decision over No. 103 Samir Iftikhar, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles, Dzanko and freshman Sten Leusink teamed up for a second spot victory, 8-5, versus Jadon Phillips and Riaan Du Toit.
Next up will be a day off before DePaul returns to action on Sunday. The match will feature the Blue Demons battling New Mexico State with first serve scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT.
