DePaul Men's Tennis Finishes Sixth at BIG EAST Championship

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - DePaul men's tennis got another win from freshman Sten Leusink and finished in sixth-place at the BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship on Sunday, falling 4-1 to St. John's in the tournament's fifth-place match.
The Blue Demons (6-18) surpassed their seed, placing sixth after receiving a seven seed to begin the tournament and nearly knocked off eventual runner-up Louisville in the opening round. A win over No. 6 Villanova pushed DePaul into the fifth-place match against No. 9 St. John's.
The Red Storm continued their surprising tournament, taking both doubles matches to lock up an early 1-0 lead before going up 3-0 with wins at second and fourth singles.
DePaul got a point back at the three, where Leusink remained undefeated (3-0) in his first trip to the BIG EAST Championship. A hard fought three-setter at first singles decided the match, as St. John's clinched the win and fifth-place at the tournament.
The Blue Demons also had leads in fifth and sixth singles when play was stopped due to the match-deciding point being won.
